Bye bye hanau milcom

Post by pioneermars »

The Hanau Military Community will cease to exist effective 30 Sept 08. Fliegerhorst was closed in 2007. I just found out. I kind of feel like my best friends died or something.

Ah, Pepi's Pizza. I miss their Jagershnitzel und pomme fritz dinners. Everybody makes theirs different. I liked theirs the best. Haven't come across the same flavor or texture since. Manuel, I seem to vaguely remember you. I hadn't had the opportunity to visit the lance trailer very often. I remember Chiasson. Can you help me remember Who was the the guy that came in after? He use to be a sgt. I know he was in A-btry and I think he was in A&T. I keep thinking it was a french sounding name. "Le" something or other.

Don't rember the name. I think he was a heavy-set white guy with a mustache. I remember Chief Chiasson bought a saab before he PCS'ed. Chiasson knew Lance inside and out.

Very sorry to hear this. I mistakenly thought Fliegerhorst was closed long ago. I was there from 1989-1991 and they were preparing even then to close the post.

Separately, My second-to-last day was the ceremony moving 1/32 from 41st FA Bde to 3rd Armor. I was notified after I got home that 1/32 was moved to Fort Sill even after we had just absorbed A-burg's 3/12 FA.

Yes, I remember them both. I remember you too! I don't have any contact info for either of them. Sorry. Can you help my memory? Who was the guy that ran the FDC track over the german car on the off ramp? I seem to remember he was a little latino guy with glasses. But I forget his name. Other people names I forget: The short blonde tamms clerk(I think her name was terri?), The female bn mail clerk( I think she was from trinadad/tobego, The male mail clerk( the one that use to shout "ciaro" all the time. I've found a few people on military.com in the 1/32fa communities. I know ssgt stallings was there. Good luck! Nice to hear from a familiar name.
